I’ve not had the best experiences over the years when it comes to my teeth. Unprofessional, painful and frankly substandard dental work has left my teeth in very poor health. This all changed when I became a patient with James Mackenzie at New Street Dental Practice.

My teeth were basically falling apart: deep black fillings, poorly fitted crowns, sore, painful, bleeding gums. I was ashamed of my teeth and would never smile, and I would try to hide them as much as possible. This prompted me to speak with James and see what could be done. Looking back now on that conversation, I would never in a million years have expected to have the results that James has achieved.

I was initially very hesitant to take on such a complex procedure due to the fact that I’ve had such bad experiences with dentists, but from smaller issues like replacing old fillings with new white ones and fixing poor root canal treatments this all of this gave me enormous confidence in James.

The whole experience and procedure was perfect: scans, X-rays, mock fittings, all done to make sure all my teeth were structurally sound before he carried out any work. James left no stone unturned when it came to my teeth, and this just made me feel more confident in James and his team.
However, I was nervous and hesitant in the beginning, but with the state-of-the-art equipment, James was able to show me a visualisation of what my teeth would look like, and my hesitation and nerves were replaced with excitement and an eagerness to get started.

From start to finish, James explained everything in a detailed, concise way so that I could understand his decisions in certain areas, like renewing poorly done old root canals for longevity, explaining my new bite locations to spread the load away from weaker teeth, and what colour would look natural and not look fake.

With such a lot of work to do on my teeth, it came with some lengthy chair time that sometimes took James and his team out of their normal working hours to make sure my treatment stayed on track. They went above and beyond to achieve this, and I’m very grateful. During all the sessions, I felt zero pain, not even a scratch from the injections. Also, all the staff helped me to feel calm and relaxed and carried out all their work professionally.

Now it’s all finished. I would highly recommend anyone in a similar situation to see James. I have my smile back and my confidence to laugh, smile in photos, talk confidently and pronounce words without feeling self-conscious. I feel like a new person. I catch myself in the mirror and see a perfect smile that has been missing for so long. I can’t thank James and his team enough; it’s made a huge difference to me, and without his skill, vision and perfectionist mentality, I would still have the same old painful, ugly teeth.
